I Am Alive !

Hello

I don't have much to say today, I had an operation yesterday afternoon to remove a cyst from my neck the size of a large orange!

I am happy to be home! I am happy to be alive, I am happy to be fortunate enough to live in a country where I can go to hospital and be looked after by lovely caring people. Everybody who I met there was so kind and patient.

I feel enormously grateful to people who dedicate their lives to helping and healing others. So that is all I have to say today, I will be back tomorrow with whatever the new day brings.

Today I have Loving Gratitude for the crisp air breathing me back to my centre when I left the hospital
I have Loving Gratitude for the silly movie I watched today which cheered me up
I have Loving Gratitude for my cats which greeted me on my return
I have Loving Gratitude for my friends who brought us to and from the hospital
I have Loving Gratitude for the birds I can hear singing
I have Loving Gratitude for my voice
I have Loving Gratitude for my wonderful strong healthy body
I have Loving Gratitude for all the days to come
I have Loving Gratitude for my life
I have Loving Gratitude for our beautiful planet

Love Life!

Hello

Today I feel to share some of the things which I love about planet Earth, for me at this time in my life (I am always open to change) being human is about witnessing and experiencing the beauty of planet Earth. I have had quite a few moments recently of lucid understanding that what I sense around me is the peak of spiritual experience. I cannot possibly claim to understand the complexities of being, but I get a sense of Universal truths, as they exist for me,  when I feel them in my heart.

My heart resonates with the notion that as spiritual beings we choose to come here and that being a being on planet Earth is the peak of physical experience. For many years I felt that I did not choose to come here and that I had somehow come against my will, but I have moved on from that perception to the understanding that perhaps I have just been having a hard time integrating myself with being on the physical plane. I have often felt that Earth is not the way I remember it and that I would be much happier in a more 'natural setting' after all the aspects of being alive that I love the most are all taking place outside, in the wild or at the very least somewhere with growing things.

I am frequently stunned by the infinitely diverse beauty of the world, and there is so much of it to see, I would love to travel and see all the other environments which exist, and there have been many times when I have felt sad not to have explored a bit more. Today when I was driving home after dropping one of my daughters at school, it struck me that I love the English countryside so well, and I also know it so well, I am familiar with most of the plants and trees that I come across, I may not be able to name them all, but I am pretty sure that they have no concern for the human obsession with naming things, but I know them and enjoy them in all their seasonal aspects and I love and cherish them.

Perhaps a life spent exploring the whole world would mean knowing it less intimately. I love my friendship with nature, I love all the types of birds which I frequently see and I love that I am able to see and hear the natural world in detail in my mind when I am indoors and I close my eyes.
I love the safety that I feel when I am out alone walking in the country side, I enjoy very much the solitude, and when I am alone walking is the time when much of my creative inspiration comes to me.

For me a woodland full of Bluebells with the evening birdsong is one of the landscapes and soundscapes which I love the most.

Today I Have Loving Gratitude for my life
I Have Loving Gratitude for grasses
I Have Loving Gratitude for trees
I Have Loving Gratitude for birds
I Have Loving Gratitude for bees
I Have Loving Gratitude for deer
I Have Loving Gratitude for dormice
I Have Loving Gratitude for swallows
I Have Loving Gratitude for mossy walls
I Have Loving Gratitude for beams of sunlight through woodlands

I Am A Bud Waiting To Blossom......

Hello

It was a gloriously sunny morning when I woke up, but I felt quite uncomfortable! We had blacked out the window last night to help our baby get to sleep and the result was that yes she did go to sleep but the bedroom was really stuffy when we woke up!
The quality of the light this morning is such that the thick layer of dust on my mirror is obscuring the reflective qualities of the glass!

Today my thoughts are a bit like the dust on my mirror, they are obscuring who I really am! I would like to get a duster and wipe away all the dust on my mirror, dusting is something which I used to do a lot of as a child, I used to really enjoy picking up all the ornaments and sweeping away the dust and watching it dance in the shafts of sunlight coming in through the windows.

The dust on my ornaments obscures their beauty. I am unable to shine as brightly as I could were I free of the memory dust of my life. Past hurts seem to gather like dust, the memories get in my eyes and up my nose making it hard for me to see clearly and to breathe, they cling to my skin making me agitated and stopping me from acting from a neutral place of nowness.

So what am I going to do about it? I'm going to get out the metaphorical duster, and perhaps the hoover too!

I know that my memories are not who I really am, I know that they are not now and they are not me, but  when memories hold an emotional charge, and are painful or upsetting to think about,  I am not free of them and they affect my daily life.

I want to be free of all my painful memories, I intend to work with them until they no longer hold any emotional charge and are simple memories of what went before. I know that it is possible to heal emotional stories as I have done it in the past. Today I feel a bit stuck and unsure what the ingredients are to healing past hurts, but I am open to the right healing opportunity coming my way, I am open to Divine Love, I am open to letting the hurts of the past go, seeing the beauty and the life messages in them for me, and moving on to be more myself, I am a bud waiting to blossom into the beautiful flower which I know myself to be.

I am very grateful for my commitment to turning up here every day and writing as honestly as I can about what is going on for me, it helps me a great deal to have a promise to myself to find the key each day to having a good day. While I am waiting to find the right healing path I am going to focus on appreciating each day......

Today I am  appreciating the sun which shines down on the world warming the soil and inspiring the seeds to grow and the flowers to blossom
Today I am grateful for the rivers and streams invigorating and supporting life, the life blood of the Earth
Today I give Thanks for all the fruits of the forest, the juicy red, purple and blue berries
Today I have Loving Gratitude for all the insects working away unseen and seen, busily going about their business performing forgotten vital services for Mother Earth
Today I Love all the lakes reflecting the beauty of the sky, supporting all the fish which swim unseen beneath the surface, quietly moving in their fishy way
Today I give Thanks for my strong healthy body which carries me through the beauty of the world
Today I have Loving Gratitude for all the birds of the Air
Today I am Grateful for the moon and stars lighting up the night with the glorious celestial spectacle for all the world to see
Today I Love my children with all my heart and all the children everywhere with their unique humour and fresh eyes
Today I have Loving Gratitude for all the things which make me laugh throughout my day

Sunshine and Buttercups!

Hello

I have been out walking everyday since I set myself the challenge, and today after a really difficult day yesterday I went out for an early morning walk. I was struck first of all by what an icy wind there was, it is the middle of May which I remember as usually being a fairly mild month, warm even, but this morning the wind felt wintery!

I was struck by several things on this walk, firstly that nothing in the natural world is never the same. We live on a planet on which things change constantly; our world is constantly new. A walk up the Tor for example can show the dramatic nature of the change which is continuously happening to our world; Glastonbury Tor (in Somerset England) used to be beneath a the sea! but since then climates have changed, land masses have shifted and the world is unrecognisable to how it was then.

Our world in a geological timescale is something we touch on only lightly, I very much feel that I am just a visitor, a tourist really. I am here to witness the beauty of the world as it is right now! I walk across the surface, occasionally I move a little below the surface when I visit caves, perhaps I will fly above the Earth if I go on a plane, but mostly I dwell on the surface in my temporary shelter for I do not think our houses will be here for long in geological time!

It seems so easy to take for granted the way things are, for they will not always be the same, seasons come and go, as do the people who walk the earth, our lives are short geologically. I have often become stressed about the very human ideas of making myself a permanent home, building up wealth and leaving my mark, but in geological time it is utterly meaningless; even in human terms it is pretty pointless!

I think I would rather not leave any mark when I leave the Earth, perhaps some people will remember me for a time and maybe they will enjoy my music and stories but really this life is to be enjoyed right now, every day.

The second thing I noticed on my walk today was the utter glorious beauty of the world. I walked through fields full of buttercups, buttercups have to be one of the most radiant flowers that I know of, they light up the fields like thousands of tiny fluorescent lamps. Today everything looked magical, grasses waved in the wind, the trees are all just beginning to unfold delicate fresh new leaves and the tiny white flowers of the hawthorn are decorating the hedgerows like flurrys of spring snow.

I really held in my heart today that Earth is the place to be! In all the Universe planet earth is stunningly diverse in her beauty, it is a constantly changing sensuous movie of technicolour delights. I may only get one life, I have no idea what the world is about, but I would love to live mine out in the fields. My commitment to walking out in the fields every day is the best thing I could possibly have done for myself. I love it!

I am struck by the beauty of the world. So what if I never 'achieve' anything in human terms? I don't care about human measurements of success anymore, I want to rid myself of them entirely. Real true success to me is walking amongst the beauty of the world and really seeing it, being with nature peacefully.

The quieter my mind becomes the more I see the beauty of the world. When I walk along thinking I cannot possibly perceive the same things as when I am silent inside and out.

The wise old owl sat on the oak,
The more he saw the less he spoke,
The less he spoke the more he heard,
Why aren't we more like that wise old bird?

I think we all can be as wise as we like, quieting the mind is the quickest way to true peace and happiness, for me at least.

Today I have Loving Gratitude for Buttercups
I have Loving Gratitude for juicy pears
I have Loving Gratitude for quiet days
I have Loving Gratitude for icy breezes in spring
I have Loving Gratitude for clean cold water
I have Loving Gratitude for people who live with nature
I have Loving Gratitude for sea shells on mountain tops
I have Loving Gratitude for fossil fuels
I have Loving Gratitude for my sensitivity
I have Loving Gratitude for my wealth of creativity

Everything Passes; it is the Nature of the World.

Hello

This evening I had a really hard time, I was overtaken by a wave of misery which I was not prepared for, for a while I was completely engulfed by the wave of gloom and doom, but towards the end of it I realised that it was not real.
What I find the hardest about the occasional waves of misery which still swoop over me from time to time is that they are apparently causeless. If something had happened to bring me down then I could understand feeling so low, but if nothing has changed then it seems so peculiar to be suddenly swept away by destructive thoughts.

The thing that I learnt from todays episode is that I can ride the feelings out, so to speak, if I can be patient they will pass. Everything passes, nothing stays the same and after a while of feeling anything something eventually happens to change things, so why not depression and misery? It was so today, after some time crying and entertaining the thoughts there was no where else to go with it! The nature of the world is that everything, including our thoughts, is constantly moving into form, through form and out of form.

I changed my focus, and watched my baby being funny with her blond fluffy hair waving about while she wobbled around the room, for a while I still felt low, but I felt it shift all of a sudden. I think that I kind of accepted the feelings and looked again at my situation; nothing had changed from yesterday, the tree outside my sitting room still waved beautifully in the wind, the sky still radiated stunning blueness and the birds still sung evening song. I am still myself, my songs still exist, I still needed to go for a walk and write my blog! Time was ticking on.

Today I seriously considered stopping writing this blog. Why? Because I was feeling low, and perhaps feeling like it has run its course, it has all been said, but perhaps it hasn't. Maybe it is never done, maybe we are never finished growing. I wanted to be able to wave a magic wand and be happy every day, I wanted to change the thought habits of a lifetime in a few months and because it hasn't happened completely yet I feel frustrated, I feel impatient, I feel annoyed, I feel like I need to learn patience.

One thing I do know for sure is that I am changing slowly, my bouts of misery are shorter; hours rather than days. My ability to move from miserable feeling thoughts back into the present moment and to concentrate on the now is improving. I am growing, I am learning, I am CHOOSING MY THOUGHTS  as often as I allow myself to.

I want to be a success at finding happiness every day, I am glad I have managed to get through today, I am proud of myself for not giving up, perhaps everyone has days when they feel like giving up, perhaps only special people do, like me!

Today I am grateful for my partner and his endless kindness
I am grateful for apples which still have a leaf attached to the stalk when I eat them
I am grateful for roses
I am grateful for powder paints
I am grateful for paper mache
I am grateful for the sun when it hangs low on the land like a burning red balloon
I am grateful for ants
I am grateful for stick insects and leaf insects
I am grateful for the bugs which eat decaying matter and return the nutrients to the soil
I am grateful for my friends

Feeding Your Soul!

Hello

Today is the fourth day of my new new challenges to go for a walk everyday and to play music everyday, and the eighth day of my new challenge to talk about, meditate on or do the things I love everyday!

So far it is going really well for me, I am so happy that I set myself the second challenge to walk and play music everyday, talking about it was the first step!
So far I have managed to meet my challenge everyday, and it has already brought me a great deal of joy! I am astonished that I managed to go for so long now without playing music!

Just the two simple acts of playing music and walking out in wild places is feeding my soul so much, I really do believe it is our responsibility to ourselves as physical beings to do the things we love doing everyday even if it is just for the bare minimum of time.
Who knows how long we have to be in our physical bodies that we can put off what we love doing to another day? Another day may not come for us, Now is the time to do the things we love!

OK, so there may be things which I feel I need to do, the laundry being the most obvious, and I often hear people saying they have to earn money, and true we all have to eat, but what is life for if it is not for experiencing that which we love?

They say that being human is the leading edge, it is where it's at, apparently that is why there are so many of us! Being human is a miraculous gift! We have incredible bodies which can carry us around to see the beauty of the world, we can swim, jump, run, dance, leap, wiggle, sing, talk, hear and experience so many physical sensations!

Being human is not to be underestimated! It is a miracle which I intend to enjoy to the full, by doing the things I love every singly day I take full advantage of my physical body, and not only that but I am really enjoying myself!

I can really highly recommend this challenge, it is really helping me to maintain a highly positive focus, each morning so far I have wondered how I am going to fit in my walk and each day somehow it has just happened in exactly the right way.

Do what you love, after all there is nothing else!

Today I have Loving Gratitude for the magical beauty of the world
I have Loving Gratitude for mice and other little furry creatures
I have Loving Gratitude for my toes which help me balance
I have Loving Gratitude for my ears with which I hear the birds sing
I have Loving Gratitude for the scent of bluebells
I have Loving Gratitude for the sublime colours of sunset
I have Loving Gratitude for really tall hills from which the lay of the land can be seen
I have Loving Gratitude for sun reflected in flooded fields
I have Loving Gratitude for random anonymous works of art
I have Loving Gratitude for my creative mind

Smile More! Share Your Joy!

Hello

Today the sun is shining again and it feels like I've got a head start on choosing good feeling thoughts! I have been thinking more about smiling and in particular the visual effects of smiling, it seems to me that when somebody smiles it is as if the sun himself is shining from their face!

Smiles are a powerful tool, we can spread joy with our smiles. There is a game I like to play when I am out and about and I feel to share my joy, I like to smile to everyone I encounter until they smile back. When I play this game I am happy to say that almost everyone smiles back eventually! I am amazed by the people who manage to maintain a solemn expression, as I find it almost impossible not to smile when I am smiled at.

The power of the smile is such for me and my family that simply the mention of a smile can bring one to our faces, and we often help one of my daughters to cheer up by talking about happiness and smiling, just saying the letter S makes her smile involuntarily even when she is stubbornly trying to stay upset!

One thing I have noticed about smiles is that some peoples whole faces light up in the most astonishingly radiant manner when they smile, it can be a complete transformation! To me this suggests that a full face/full body smile is something we could all do if we were so inclined.

So I have been practising half smiles and full whole face/full body smiles in front of the mirror as a little experiment to feel the difference in the effects of those smiles on my feelings.
My results so far are simple! Appart from the face ache and feeling slightly mad when I fully smile with my whole body, I can report that the half committed small smile is not a patch on the joy I feel when smiling whole heart-soul and bodily! plus the way I look when I smile with my heart and soul is infinitely more pleasing.

To smile with my whole body takes a willingness to be open hearted, which I find takes a portion of bravery and sometimes a reminder to do it with strangers.

How would the world be I wonder if everyone went out tomorrow with the intention of sharing their whole body open hearted smile with everyone they meet?

There would be out-brakes of joy all over our beautiful planet!

Part of the problem with sharing open hearted behaviour with people we don't yet know could be to do with language; strangers! The word implies some sort of unwholesome aspects. A quick look online at synonyms produces the word 'aliens' as an alternative, and word that certainly doesn't fill me with confidence, sci-fi nightmares and mountains made of mashed potato are the first thing which springs to my mind!

So I'm going to keep being open hearted when I feel brave, I'm going to CHOOSE BRAVE FEELING THOUGHTS after all strangers could be friends I have not yet met and with smiles like those whole body ones I certainly would love to share Joy with them, and I might never know who they are if I don't share my own smile!
